Why We Are Special

We focus on empowering our students to become successful lifelong learners. Through a broad spectrum of services and instructional approaches, The MALIC Center seeks to help its students master effective ways of learning in numerous disciplines, while learning different ways to understand and adapt to Jordanian society, allowing them to experience true cultural immersion throughout the course of their studies. Moreover, all of our programs follow a skill-based teaching philosophy that develops our learners’ fluency by building their mastery of specific skill sets that are applicable across all professional capacities including but not limited to listening (for audio and video), reading for gist, reading for detail, speaking (prepared presentation, dialogue and improvisation), written translation, consecutive and simultaneous interpretation and formal writing all of which are drilled under timed conditions. Also, by keeping up to date with the latest pedagogical research in the field as we develop our curricula and our teaching methodologies, we guarantee not only to maintain but to improve upon the quality of our services for our students whatever their backgrounds, levels or goals.

At the head of MALIC’s academic administration, curricular innovation and institutional development is Dr. Khalid Al-Gudah.

Dr. Al-Gudah has a long history of experience in the field of Arabic Language Pedagogy for Non-Native Speakers, which has also been the focus of all of his graduate and post-graduate research. While teaching Arabic to foreign students at the University of Jordan-Jubeiha for 8 years, Dr. Al-Gudah served as the Coordinator and Primary Instructor for the British and Australian Diplomats Program from 2003-2008.

Dr. Al-Gudah went on to serve as chair of the university’s Arabic Language Department for Non-Native Speakers for another 2 years before leaving the University of Jordan to found MALIC in 2010. Dr. Al-Gudah has published numerous articles in his field in addition to his dissertations dealing with topics such as “Arabic Instruction for Non-Native Diplomats” and “First Language Effect and Influence on Non-Native Arabic Learners.” A few of Dr. Al-Gudah’s more notable former students include His Excellency Peter Millett the current British Ambassador to Jordan, Dominique Hyde UNICEF’s current representative for Jordan, John Casson the current British Ambassador to Egypt British  and Rohan Titus former Australian Embassy Deputy Head of Mission.

By ensuring the highest quality educational services that are available in the Middle East within the field of Arabic Language Pedagogy for Non-Native Learners, we aim to equip future generations of students and professionals with unparalleled linguistic skills, cultural insights and learning strategies that will allow them to function and thrive in Jordan and the rest of Arabic-speaking world with confidence in any professional capacity.

Methodology Language skills and intercultural awareness are essential in the process of learning foreign languages. However, many students tend to focus on grammar rather than the four skills of the language, resulting in a gap between what is learnt in the class and what is outside. So, if you are looking for a place where Arabic is taught through a carefully selected combination of reading, listening, speaking and writing activities, then MALIC center is the best choice to study in. In MALIC, instructors are well- trained to teach arabic for non-native speakers, and to work with students to fill the gaps that remain in their language acquisition.
Equally important, our lessons are based on a mixture of methods and approaches to meet the different needs of learners. After tens of years of experience in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, we have developed different curricula of standard Arabic, media Arabic and colloquial Arabic; each of which provides training at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. In addition, students are provided with extra activities weekly such as cultural classes, trips and excursions, language partners and accommodation. Such activities help them deeply understand the Jordanian culture and converse in Arabic. Here is to say, if you are interested in Arabic and looking for a stunning experience where you can develop and utilize your language skills, we encourage you to apply right away to one of the programs offered on the website.

MALIC is headquartered at Ahmad Al-Tarawaneh Street on the top floor of business complex number 22, which lies immediately adjacent to the University of Jordan’s northern gates entrance in Jubeiha, Amman.
